Used balloons become shoe soles

Undo for Tomorrow, a Lisbon, Portugal-based shoe brand, has released the “Nuven” shoe that the company says is completely vegan and made with all recycled and natural materials. Of particular interest are the colorful soles, made from discarded party balloons and tire leftovers. The shoe lining is 100 percent bamboo, which also serves as an antibacterial for odor control. The outside layer is a suede-like material made of recycled plastic. The toe cap is made from stretchable rubber sourced from the Amazon rainforest, that molds to your feet with use. Company co-founders, Patrick Dohmann and Pedro Mello, say they wanted to change the way people look at “trash” and prove that recycled and upcycled materials are as worthy as new ones.
