Aiming to keep its customers comfortable whether they’re wearing a minidress in the winter or a long gown in the summer, Popilush, Williamsburg, Va., uses specialty thermal fibers in its designs, which include built-in shapewear.

In its Bluetag COOLING Collection, the proprietary yarn fibers contain collagen from discarded oyster shells, combined with a nylon 6 yarn. The fabric also features UV-blocking and antimicrobial properties and a smooth, soft texture.

In its Redtag Collection, the fibers contain recycled coffee grounds via coffee charcoal and absorb and trap far-infrared heat. The garments with these fibers are 48% elastane, offering tensile strength; other properties of this fabric include antistatic and antimicrobial.

Founder Eve DeMartine grew up in Malaysia before coming to the United States to launch Popilush in 2022.
