The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration is awarding a $1 million grant to the Partnership for Community Action of Albuquerque, N.M., to construct the Social Enterprise Center, a new manufacturing and training facility. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 43 new jobs and support local workforce training. This investment will help construct the 15,370 square-foot training facility, which will support professional development, direct manufacturing and assembly of textiles, and workforce education. The Social Enterprise Center will provide resources to help unemployed and underemployed individuals obtain necessary skills to grow a competitive workforce.
