Amistad Academy, New Haven, Conn., looked to Design 360 to enhance the entrance to a vestibule at the school, and inside their gym, but they also wanted the look to be changeable.

“In the gym they were looking for a solution that would add color and allow for their message to be displayed,” says Design 360’s Jill Ayers. “Banners made sense as they could hang free of the architecture and be updated.” The design firm worked closely with Xibitz, the company that fabricated the project. Fisher Textiles’ white/black/white block-out material was chosen for dye sublimation, because it has tightly woven yarns with a layer of black in between that allows for double-sided graphics, and it accepts intense colors. The final project adds color and excitement in the spaces and presents a positive message about the school for students, staff and visitors.
