Ghillie suit kits protect U.S. Army snipers

Advanced Textiles, Projects | July 1, 2009 | By:

[Propel LLC] Providence, R.I., U.S.A.

Propel LLC, a business focused on the development of new textile technologies for the military and homeland security, will provide U.S. Army Snipers with ghillie suit kits composed of a new fire-resistant material. Available as skeins of yarn or as narrow fabric, this material replaces the highly flammable jute burlap previously used by U.S. Army snipers, and is part of the U.S. Army’s upgrade to flame-resistant textiles for combat clothing. Soldiers use this material to construct their own personal Ghillie suit so they can blend into the environment. Each sniper will receive a kit of 10 skeins of yarn in three camouflage colors and will be able to reorder individual skeins or kits as needed.
