Economy Tent Intl., Miami, Fla, has been recognized by the South Florida Manufacturers Association as first runner-up for Manufacturer of the Year for 2010. The award is presented to companies that provide positive economic, employee and community benefits to the South Florida region. Economy Tent, nominated by Citibank, was one of five finalists chosen from a final group of 50 nominees that were picked from more than 5500 manufacturing companies in the South Florida area. Winners were revealed during a special event showcasing the excellence demonstrated in the South Florida manufacturing community by both individuals and organizations. The event was held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA) in Dania Beach, Fla.
Hal Lapping, president of Economy Tent, accepted the award on behalf of the company. “We feel especially honored and humbled to be selected for this prestigious award,” he commented. “Everyone at Economy Tent has worked tirelessly to create better products while remaining sensitive to our clients’ needs. Economy Tent Intl., established in 1948, has grown into one of the largest manufacturers of frame tents in the United States. Its 25,000 sq.ft. manufacturing and warehousing facility offers state-of-the-art cutting and heat sealing equipment and the latest tent manufacturing technology, with an in-house, full service metal fabrication and welding facility.
