The Hohenstein Institute has established the Hohenstein Health Center for textile health research within their company group in Bönnigheim, Germany. The center focuses on all aspects of health sciences in which clothing and other textile products and procedures affecting human health play a central role. It takes an interdisciplinary approach and is open to all disciplines and research institutions which study health including textile science, medicine, hygiene, physiology and nursing science. Prof. Dirk Höfer, medical director, leads the center. The role of the health center is to assess and evaluate the benefits and risks of textile products in a particular application in order to show medical practitioners in any field, textile developers and end consumers the available options within those applications.
