The government of India has set the goal for the Indian textile sector to reach $650 billion by 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the goal while inaugurating India’s largest ever textile meet, Textiles India–2017 last June in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He said that speed, scale and quality are essential for Indian textiles to compete against countries like China. Innovation and research are also needed to meet the demands of consumers in other countries, as culture,
lifestyle and fashion trends are different. The three-day event drew 1,000 exhibitors and 15,000 registered buyers and delegates from around the world.
